SEQUENTIAL Gaming - Says Goodbye
After much deliberation, SEQUENTIAL Gaming has decided, that effective immediately, we will be dropping all forms of team sponsorship/support across the Australian E-Sports scene.
Over the past 1.5-2 years, Sequential Gaming has undergone many testing times both in the public arena and behind the scene's, both within the organisation and within the personal lives of many of our staff/management. Over the past 6 month's this has intensified, with less and less time available to commit to the organisation and the teams within it. More regularly, we were experiencing a lack of professionalism across many genre's of the gaming community and ultimately we began questioning whether the unpaid and tireless hours upon hours and personal monetary contributions were all really worth it.
As time pushed on, line-ups changed and team's came and went, often for very frustrating and often ridiculous reasons. The ability to sponsor team's diminished as resources were spread thinner and thinner and sponsorship belief dwindled. This lack of stability, only lead to reduce the motivation of management to continue pushing the organisation forward and ultimately lead to dousing the flame we once had for the Australian E-Sports scene. One must understand, how difficult it could be to explain to a sponsor that the team they had contributed to, the resources, the money, the products had undergone a significant line-up change. It was even more difficult to explain how the replacements had left only weeks after.
Unfortunately, for these reasons and countless more, we have been unable to find the appropriate support and staff to maintain our ranks and have found ourselves in a downhill spiralling circle. We believe that it would be unjustified to continue down the path we are heading and unfair on those loyal divisions who have stood by us for so long.
We wish to send huge thankyou's to all players, sponsors and supporters, who have been an enormously large part of the growth of our team over the past 2 years. We never thought the day would come when we had to say goodbye and always worked with a 2-5 year plan for our future. Big thanks must go to Mercness, Recycled Office and the original Euphoric CSS lineup, particularly Chris "dblstR" Galbory. Chris and the aforementioned, were instrumental in our establishment and definitely brought SQL into the mainstream. We wish to thank our former 1.6 team for allowing us to win 3 nationals and be a part of sending a team internationally, whilst as an organisation you were incredibly difficult to manage, we had some amazingly good times and it truly was a memorable ride - it is also fantastic to know a former SQL member is competing in the CGS. We also wish to thank all of our loyal divisions in DoTA, WoW/Fury, Xbox and in particularly our Call of Duty boys who have stood by SQL through thick and thin and always been vocal in the general runnings of SQL.
Thankyou to Biggz, Jon and anyone who contributed to graphics/web development.
Thankyou to Plantronics, Velox, Aztec LAN, DNALan, Redbull and Jolt Cola. Without your assistance we wouldn't have risen to where we were and a very large thanks extends to Dave and the Audion team, and Ivan and the Razer team, for showing faith in SQL and actively contributing so much to us.
Lastly, to Elliot "unplugged" Warburton, I wish you were writing this and not us, but probably the biggest thanks have to go to you. You were an inspiration all along our journey and a key figure in both our growth, our community involvement and our general day to day workings. We have missed you recently
To those of you who have supported SQL Gaming either now or in the past, we thank you and hope you can understand and appreciate where we are coming from now in making this difficult decision. If we wish to extend any message to the community, learnt from our time in Australian Gaming, it would be to recognise that Australia is young as an E-Sports country and it requires time, maturity and professionalism to take ourselves to that next level. Whilst some fast track this through the pockets of generous community contributors, these contributors are not to be taken for granted and if you wish to succeed, you must first learn to succeed for yourself and your team mates.
We anticipate that this will not be the end of Sequential. We have high hopes that once the management core has sufficient time to come together, hopefully in a time of increased professionalism and community development in Australian E-sports, that we will again form one of the leading team's in Australia. Until that time, as Sten said in his release, we will enjoy watching from the comfort of our computer screens and look forward to our return in the future.
Signed,
Nathan "Nateus" Walton
Josh "merlin" Hoffman
Fabrizio "ver0n" Bottaro

SQL Enema Interviewed Regarding CoD4
Andrew "enema" Stanley has been apart of Sequential Gaming for a long time now, making a name for himself in Call of Duty 2 and now in Call of Duty 4. The Sequential Gaming team has already had notable success in the newly released game, and enema has been a strong part of the growing journey.
I was fortunate enough to get the chance to catch up with enema to ask him a few questions regarding the team and Call of Duty in general.Comments (3) Read more... |
